How it all started
Overture Performing Arts began in 2019. From a young age, our founder Payton Murphey loved the arts. With the help of her parents Meghan and Matt Murphey she was able to put on a backyard production of Peter Pan with her younger sisters and their friends. From there her love for teaching and directing theater grew. As her team grew over the years Overture put on more and more backyard productions. Eventually a stage and curtains were a permanent fixture in the Murphey household. The backyard was too small for Payton’s dreams and she is excited to move her and her team to a bigger, more professional stage.
Our mission at OPA is to bring affordable, high quality performing arts education and performance opportunities for young artists ages 12 and up. We believe the arts are not a luxury, but an essential part of a young persons growth, confidence, social development, and future success. As part of Murphey Arts and Charitable Entertainment, we create a safe and fun environment for students to discover their voice, build lifelong skills, and experience the transformative power of theater. In a world where the arts are often underfunded and overlooked, Overture strives to make meaningful education accessible to every family.
